Who we are
Agnieszka Romaszko
I'm a Polish teacher. My MA is about blessings and curses in Fairy Tales. As a cultural champion I can talk about any aspect of Polish culture, language, history, geography, folk arts, fairy tales as well as the differences between our cultures. I can also explain aspects of migration.
Caroline Nicholson
I have a PhD in Art and Archaeology and have spent most of my career as an Educational consultant in Cultural Heritage for schools & museums. I enjoy sharing my American heritage with children of all ages.

Chiu Chan
I am from China and lived there for 25 years. As a Cultural Champion I can talk about Chinese language and culture. My interest and background are in cooking Chinese food.
Dave Samuels
An experienced scientist, sports coach and science teacher. I am a black, Bristol-born male of Jamaican heritage, with a cultural insight on subjects such as immigration, slavery and diversity. I also have personal knowledge of what it is like to be Afro-Caribbean growing up and living in the South West.
Fiona Gaffa
I am fairly new to the South West having moved down from London. I have a strong connection to Exeter as my father would have been one of the very few international students in Exeter University in the 1950s. My father studied here and then returned to Uganda where I was born and brought up. Although we have come along way from the stories I used to hear about my dad's time here all those years ago, I do recognise that we have a long way to go before we can truly embrace and learn from different cultures and learn from each other. As a cultural champion I can offer an insight into African Cooking, arts and crafts and story telling.

Ghee Bowman
As a white British Cultural Champion I aim to help students to understand and celebrate British culture in all its aspects. We can explore British, English and Devon culture through stories, games, songs and crafts, and by bringing in history and literature. I can also share my personal and family history. Remember: it's OK to be white and it's OK to be British!
Ilana Bristow
I am a Brasilian with years of teaching experience in Brazil, a degree in History and would love to share my passion for Brazil and its culture. Brazil is not only one of the largest countries in the world, but a country born of diversity and with a lot to show. From the Amazon to the metropolis of Sao Paulo, from the Rio Carnival to the Gaucho way of life, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Linda Broadway
My name is Linda Broadway and I am a Romany Gypsy. Gypsies are the largest racial minority group in Devon yet most people have no idea of our long history and culture.
I love talking about the Gypsy life and have a wealth of stories to tell and traditional skills to pass on. I have found that most people, children in particular, find the subject fascinating.
Nazima Khan
I am a Kenyan born Muslim living in UK for the last 18 years. As a Cultural Champion I would like to share my experiences of both my religion and country with children and adults of all ages. Kenya has lots to offer and discover, with its diverse mixture of cultures, tribes, history, its famous landmarks and wildlife safaris. I work part time as a credit controller and I am also a holistic therapist (Indian head massage and reflexology). I also enjoy henna design and cooking with children.
